Basketball Recap: Sarah Defibaugh's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tygarts Valley over Webster County

Tygarts Valley was the 46-44 winner over Webster County when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs took a 41-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Webster County Highlanders. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Highlanders 13-8 in the first quarter.

Tygarts Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Defibaugh, who posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Defibaugh has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailen Yokum, who put up eight points.

Tygarts Valley dropped their record down to 10-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Webster County, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Looking ahead, Tygarts Valley will challenge Tucker County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tygarts Valley is facing Tucker County at the right time seeing as Tucker County is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Webster County has already played their next matchup (against Gilmer County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
