Basketball Recap: Ethan Ash's Big Game Can't Quite Lead California Lutheran over Tri-City Christian

If California Lutheran was riding high fresh off their 67-24 takedown of Hesperia Christian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The California Lutheran C-Hawks took a hard 75-60 fall against the Tri-City Christian Eagles on Monday.

Several C-Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Ash, who went 11 for 17 on his way to 26 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 43.3% of California Lutheran's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Tyler Treder was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, California Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Tri-City Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeramiah Turner led the charge by going 9 of 16 en route to 26 points along with four steals and three blocks. Those 26 points gave Turner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Garry Dillard III, who had nine points in addition to seven assists and six steals.

California Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Tri-City Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.
