Baseball Game Preview: Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack vs. Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans

The Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack are taking a road trip to face off against the Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilkes-Barre's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Greater Nanticoke Area's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Wilkes-Barre's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Wyoming Valley West.

Alex Hufford was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Nathan Fritz was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Greater Nanticoke Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Pittston, falling 13-0.

Greater Nanticoke Area saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Shemanski, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Greater Nanticoke Area's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Wilkes-Barre, their record now sits at 9-6.

Wilkes-Barre was able to grind out a solid win over Greater Nanticoke Area in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolfpack since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
