Vardaman and Bruce are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but likely not for long. The Vardaman Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bruce Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vardaman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Vardaman took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bruce, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Vardaman narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Bruce 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted against the Trojans since March 20, 2021.

Addi Lucius spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She also put up four walks, which were her first of the season.

At the plate, Maggie Edmondson and Haley Parker did most of the damage at the plate: Edmondson scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Parker scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Edmondson also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Makayla Johnson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Vardaman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Bruce moved to 3-6 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. As for Vardaman, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
