Recap: Academy of Excellence Warriors vs. Rock County Christian Eagles
The Academy of Excellence Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rock County Christian. While losing is never fun, Academy of Excellence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while Rock County Christian is ranked 186th).
Rock County Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tony Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. Thompson hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Thompson, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Academy of Excellence dropped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Rock County Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.
Academy of Excellence will head out on the road to take on Maranatha Baptist at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rock County Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Grace Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. Rock County Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 178 points over their last three matches.
