Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Monte Vista was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against Steele Canyon, falling 4-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Monarchs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Cougars are ranked 957th).

Gompers Prep Academy pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Monte Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6-4.
