Recap: Adams Central Patriots vs. York Dukes
The Adams Central Patriots won the last time they faced the York Dukes, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Adams Central managed a 53-47 win over York. Given Adams Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while York is ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
York lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kiersten Portwine, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Koch, who scored 13 points.
Adams Central's win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.2 points. As for York, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3.
Adams Central will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hastings at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. York and St. Cecilia will round out the year against one another at 1:30 p.m. on December 29th at. St. Cecilia's defense has only allowed 27.6 points per game this season, so York's offense will have their work cut out for York.
