Basketball Game Preview: Fall River Pirates vs. Poynette Pumas

The Fall River Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Poynette Pumas at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Fall River came up short against Dodgeland and fell 60-51.

Meanwhile, Poynette came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 75-65 victory over the Cardinals. Given the Pumas' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Poynette pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Fall River, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Fall River came up short against Poynette in their previous meeting back in December of 2016, falling 42-35. Can Fall River avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
