Soccer Preview: Troup County vs. Northside

Troup County has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Northside Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Troup County is strutting in with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 4.4 goals per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Troup County fell victim to a tough 4-1 defeat at the hands of LaGrange. The game got a bit rough at times, as the refs handed out a total of four yellow cards before it was all over: Troup County's Augusto Merida and Luis Merida and LaGrange's Elvis Castillo and Romans Outland were all carded.

Troup County's goal came courtesy of Merida, who's now up to 13 this season.

Meanwhile, Northside scored the most goals they've had all season to find success last Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 6-1 margin over Fayette County. The victory was just what Northside needed coming off of a 5-1 loss in their prior game.

Troup County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Northside, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10-1.

Troup County took their victory against Northside when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Troup County since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
