Softball Recap: St. Margaret's Scotties vs. Northumberland Indians

St. Margaret had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it 15. They lost 13-1 to the Northumberland Indians. If the Scotties were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Indians when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Northumberland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won seven contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

For Northumberland's part, Ava Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Braylin Beauchamp and Kierra Coleman did most of the damage at the plate: Beauchamp went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Coleman went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Beauchamp continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Somers, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

St. Margaret's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northumberland, they will face off against Colonial Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Drifters have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of.
