No. 16 Bingham (South Jordan, Utah) and No. 23 Kahuku (Hawaii) entered Saturday's matchup at the Polynesian Football Classic in Las Vegas with three combined shutouts already this season.

So it's no surprise that defense ruled the night in a meeting between national Top 25 teams as Bingham stifled Kahuku 17-0.

In a game that featured just 335 offensive yards, it was Bingham (4-0) quarterback Ryan Wood with the glossiest statline. The 6-foot senior scored the game's first touchdown on a short run in the first quarter and finished with 109 passing and rushing yards.

Kahuku (4-1), who was playing without star sophomore quarterback Sol-Jay Maiava, was shutout for the first time since 2008. The Red Raiders had averaged almost 40 points per game in their first four games of the season.

Bingham held Kahuku to just 46 total yards on offense in the first half. Kahuku was unable to reach Bingham territory until the third quarter, a drive which ended in an incomplete pass on fourth down.
