Football Recap: Nauset Regional Takes a Loss

Nauset Regional extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were outmatched by the Cohasset Skippers and fell 56-20. On the bright side, the 20- point effort marked the Warriors' highest-scoring game to date.

As for Cohasset, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.3 points over those games.

Cohasset had a senior duo take command as Michael Wildfire threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes and Gus Greene rushed for 123 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries. Greene is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Michael Joyce was another key player, rushing for 82 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Nauset Regional will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Nantucket at 5:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Cohasset, they will challenge North Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
