The Racine Park Panthers will square off against the Indian Trail Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Racine Park knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 23 contests -- so hopefully Indian Trail likes a good challenge.
Indian Trail is facing Racine Park at the wrong time: Racine Park suffered their first home loss of the season on Monday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 63-60. Defeat or not, Racine Park got some senior leadership from Isaiah Robinson and Jaxson Moss. Robinson posted 18 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals, while Moss dropped a double-double with 18 points and 19 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Moss a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Zareontae Gwinn, who to rack up 18 points.
Even though they lost, Racine Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Indian Trail played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 76-31 loss at the hands of Franklin. The game marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Racine Park will have to contain Jack Zeller as he made an impact in Indian Trail's last game. He scored 12 points and five rebounds. Caden Williams was another key player, putting up five points and five assists.
Racine Park's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 21-2. As for Indian Trail, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Racine Park has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Indian Trail struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Racine Park against Indian Trail when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 95-50 victory. In that game, Racine Park amassed a halftime lead of 57-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
