Softball Game Preview: Wilson Warriors vs. Owen J. Roberts Wildcats

The Wilson Warriors will face off against the Owen J. Roberts Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Wilson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Hatton by a score of 13-12 on Thursday.

Ava Hill was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Avery Darby was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Chandler, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Even though they lost, Wilson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Owen J. Roberts put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over Downingtown East.

Amelia Atkins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Atkins was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Liza Flavin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Maddie Reed was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Wilson has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. Owen J. Roberts' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0.
