Football Game Preview: Springfield Longhorns vs. Rocky Ford Meloneers + How To Watch

The Springfield Longhorns will take on the Rocky Ford Meloneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Springfield is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Las Animas on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Longhorns were beaten by the Trojans 56-14. The matchup marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Rocky Ford's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 51-0 to McClave, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Meloneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Cardinals are ranked first).

Rocky Ford now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Springfield took their win against Rocky Ford in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 54-32 score. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Meloneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
