Football Game Preview: Jordan Panthers vs. Lakewood Lancers

Jordan is 1-9 against Lakewood since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Panthers will host the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Jordan has given up an average of 36.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jordan managed to keep up with Millikan until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Panthers were dealt a 49-10 defeat at the hands of the Rams. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 437th, while the Rams are ranked 161st).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakewood). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-7 win over Cabrillo. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Jordan better keep an eye on Kade Casillas. He was instrumental in Lakewood's win, throwing for 202 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also rushing for 45 yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Casillas a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another player making a difference was Kenny Niumatavaelu, who picked up 110 receiving yards and two TDs.

Jordan's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lakewood, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Jordan was dealt a bruising 56-6 defeat at the hands of Lakewood in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Casillas, who threw for 440 yards and six touchdowns while completing 88.2% of his passes.
