Preview: Palmer Terrors vs. Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs
Palmer is 4-0 against Pueblo Centennial since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Palmer Terrors will head out on the road to take on the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. Palmer is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Wednesday, Palmer was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-46 to Coronado.
Despite the loss, Palmer had strong showings from Alexa Stevens, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Leah Martinez, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Martinez hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Brooke Ridgeway, who scored eight points along with two blocks.
Even though they lost, Palmer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pueblo Centennial was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 33-27 to Pueblo Central. Pueblo Centennial has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Palmer has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Pueblo Centennial, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-9.
Everything came up roses for Palmer against Pueblo Centennial when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 59-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Palmer since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
