Softball Recap: East Comes Up Short

East extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-10. They lost 19-0 to the Centennial Stars. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

As for Centennial, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-7. Considering they have won 12 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Centennial's part, Ellie Glover made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Glover was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Centennial got a massive performance out of Claire Trost, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Trost a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elise Julien, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

East has already played their next game (against Grandview Heights), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Centennial, they will square off against Northland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.9 runs per game on average), something the Stars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
