Baseball Recap: Hermann Comes Up Short

Hermann had lost ten straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-15 to make it 11. They lost 9-1 to the St. James Tigers. The Bearcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

As for St. James, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-15. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For St. James' part, Trevor Mitchell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Mitchell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Schacht, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. JV Meurer was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Hermann will head out on the road to face off against New Haven on Monday. As for St. James, they will face off against Waynesville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
