Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Spring Woods

Spring Woods had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over the Austin Mustangs. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 1115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Spring Woods' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tavionn Pickens, who posted 18 points. The contest was Pickens' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaelin Bargas, who put up 15 points.

Spring Woods has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points per game. As for Austin, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.

Spring Woods has already played their next game, a 67-60 win against Madison on the 28th. As for Austin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-59 victory against Milby on the 25th.
