Yorktown comes up short despite Kieran Tewari's dominant performance

Recap: Yorktown Tigers vs. New Castle Trojans

The Yorktown Tigers suffered their closest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of New Castle by a score of 66-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (61), Yorktown still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Yorktown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kieran Tewari. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with six assists. Another player making a difference was Connor Rowray, who scored ten points.

Colin Taylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for New Castle, scoring 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Miller, who scored 14 points.

Yorktown's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for New Castle, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yorktown will take on Winchester Community at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winchester Community will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Yorktown is ranked 78th). New Castle won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wapahani at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Wapahani will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
