Mescalero Apache is 1-6 against Lordsburg since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Mescalero Apache will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Capitan on Tuesday. Ferron BigHunter and Ricardo Yuzos did most of the damage at the plate: BigHunter got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two triples, and three runs, while Yuzos went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Yuzos a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lakai Whitewater, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Mescalero Apache always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capitan only posted an OBP of .444.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Lordsburg's offense. They came up short against Mesilla Valley Christian School on Tuesday, falling 13-0. The Mavericks haven't had much luck with the SonBlazers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Lordsburg's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Mescalero Apache, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mescalero Apache hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Lordsburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
