Volleyball Recap: Covenant Day Takes a Loss

Covenant Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Providence Day Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 9th.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Covenant Day sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-22, 24-26, 15-11.

Lila Jones paced Covenant Day's offense, picking up 15 kills. Jones got some help from Maggie Shannon and her 22 assists. Shannon was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Covenant Day's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Providence Day, their victory ended a ten-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 10-8.

Covenant Day has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Charlotte Christian on the 30th. As for Providence Day, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Charlotte Country Day School on the 30th.
