After both having extra time off, the Pomona Catholic Pacers and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Comets will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Pomona Catholic got the win against Entrepreneur by a conclusive 18-2. While fans of the Pacers might be used to big wins, the 16-run margin marked the team's biggest one yet.

Kirra Hinojos was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Abigail Magana also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Pomona Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .816. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart of Jesus waltzed into their game last Tuesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Belles.
Trinity Godson and Alina Valenzuela made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Godson struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Valenzuela tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Godson has posted since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Godson went 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Valenzuela went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yelena Moran, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Genevee Hernandez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Sacred Heart of Jesus pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Pomona Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pomona Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .575. However, it's not like Sacred Heart of Jesus struggles in that department as they've averaged .549. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pomona Catholic suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Sacred Heart of Jesus when the teams last played on April 1st. Can the Pacers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
