Basketball Recap: Aquinas Comes Up Short

Aquinas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Archangels Catholic Defenders. The Monarchs were not able to make up for their loss to the Defenders from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miriam Frasher, who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Faith Samek was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Aquinas' defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Archangels Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Aquinas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Archangels Catholic, they will square off against Elkhorn Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Elkhorn Valley sitting on 21 straight wins and Archangels Catholic on seven.
