Volleyball Recap: Makoa Miner Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat San Dieguito Academy

Clairemont had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt San Dieguito Academy on Wednesday. The Chieftains blew past the Mustangs 3-0. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 2-0 victory back in March.

Clairemont walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The final score came out to 25-23, 25-15, 28-26.

Clairemont's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makoa Miner, who had 16 kills. Miner is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had seven or more in each of the last 22 games he's played. Sean Sumner was another key player, getting six kills and five blocks.

Clairemont has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-10 record this season. As for San Dieguito Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 22-17.

Coming up, Clairemont will square off against La Jolla at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Chieftains surely won't give up without a fight. San Dieguito Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
