Softball Recap: Fairfield Comes Up Short

Fairfield extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-9 in the process. They came up short against the Littlestown Thunderbolts, falling 18-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Littlestown, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

For Littlestown's part, Maddy Dubbert looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dubbert has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hannah Barthel and Alexis Stonesifer did most of the damage at the plate: Barthel went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Stonesifer went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave Barthel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Olvera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Fairfield is set to square off against their familiar foe Hanover at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Littlestown will take on rival York County Tech at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
