Football Game Preview: Mullen Mustangs vs. Pine Creek Eagles + Official Tickets

Two dominant backs in Dante Dupuch and Xavier Lukes are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Mullen Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Pine Creek Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mullen is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Mullen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Rocky Mountain with a sharp 27-7 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.

The critical scores for Mullen came from Dupuch, Kevin Lewis, Mason Bonner, and Walter Metcalf.

Mullen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 258 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Mullen didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Amare Kyle and Charlie Krza.

Meanwhile, Pine Creek faced Fountain-Fort Carson in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. The Eagles came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 14-7. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Mullen's record now sits at 7-4. As for Pine Creek, their record is now 7-3.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Mullen has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 184.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pine Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 255.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Mullen was taken down by Pine Creek 35-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2023. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
