Basketball Recap: Kit Carson Comes Up Short

Kit Carson was the 51-46 winner over Springfield when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Kit Carson Wildcats fell just short of the Springfield Longhorns by a score of 46-43 on Tuesday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Kit Carson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Junior Farmer posted 14 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brennan Framel, who scored four points and six boards.

Colby Batterton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Springfield, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Batterton has scored at least a third of Springfield's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhett Bray, who put up six points and 11 boards.

Kit Carson's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Springfield, the win snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 2-9 record.

Kit Carson has already played their next matchup (against Stratton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Springfield will look to defend their home court on Friday against La Veta at 2:00 p.m.
