Recap: Garner Trojans vs. Cleveland Rams
The Garner Trojans lost against the Cleveland Rams back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Garner took a serious blow against Cleveland, falling 48-7. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Garner in their matchups with Cleveland: they've now lost six in a row.
Christian Ormandy threw for 43 yards on seven of 13 attempts. Cameron Quillet was his top target, picking up 34 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Jackson Byrd continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cleveland, throwing for 318 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Cameron Goins did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Garner's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Cleveland, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Garner will be playing in front of their home fans against Corinth Holders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corinth Holders will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Garner is ranked 78th). As for Cleveland, they will head out on the road to face off against Clayton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clayton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
