Football Recap: New Philadelphia Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mansfield Senior + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Philadelphia). They took down the Mansfield Senior Tygers 45-26 on Friday. For the Quakers, this counts as revenge for the 20-19 win the Tygers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Kolston Fox had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 96 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, and also picked up 46 receiving yards. Those 96 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Rieger, who threw for 121 yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: New Philadelphia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for New Philadelphia, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Fox, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

New Philadelphia's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Mansfield Senior, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, New Philadelphia will welcome The Linsly School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Quakers will be up against the Cadets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.75 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Mansfield Senior, they will head out on the road to take on Lexington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Minutemen will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Tygers surely won't give up without a fight.
