Softball Recap: Comfort Wins Going Away Against Florence

Comfort's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Florence Buffaloes with a sharp 16-3 victory. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats/Deer: when they faced off against the Buffaloes last Monday, they had to take a 17-7 loss.

Ella Thiele made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Thiele was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Kippy Sterling was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hope Van Geffen, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Comfort always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Florence only posted an OBP of .375.

Comfort's win bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Florence, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.

Comfort has already played their next game, a 15-0 loss against Ingram Moore on the 31st. As for Florence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 18-7 defeat against Llano on the 31st.
