Football Recap: Robert Lucero Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat La Serna + How To Watch

Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Northview Vikings beat the La Serna Lancers 28-23 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Northview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Robert Lucero out in front who threw for 136 yards and two TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 69 yards. What's more, Lucero racked up 141.7 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Zachary Garza also helped with two scores in total.

Another reason for the win was Northview's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Jeremiah Alcantara was the leader with two.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grady Long, who threw for 146 yards and three touchdowns. La Serna's leading receiver Landon Armenta was Long's top target yet again, picking up 42 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Northview's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for La Serna, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northview will head out to challenge Covina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Colts have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for La Serna, they will head out on the road to face off against Crean Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Lancers 12.5, the Saints 7.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
