Basketball Recap: Manzanola Takes a Loss

Manzanola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Granada Bobcats and fell 61-19. Manzanola lost against Granada in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 76-13 score last time.

Manzanola's loss came despite strong showings from Zane Lamge and Julian Chavez. Lamge posted eight points, while Chavez had seven points.

Maddox Coleman was nothing short of spectacular for Granada: he almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine assists. Coleman's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Fernando Cadena, who went 7 of 11 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Manzanola's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Granada, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Manzanola will head out to challenge Cheraw at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Granada, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cheyenne Wells at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
