Basketball Recap: Burney Comes Up Short

Burney lost against Etna back in February of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Burney Raiders took a hard 55-36 fall against the Etna Lions. The Raiders' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Despite the loss, Burney still got an impressive performance from James Fields, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. That was a full 41.7% of Burney's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Cort Covert was another key player, putting up eight points.

Burney's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Etna, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Burney will take on Plumas Charter in a tournament on Thursday. As for Etna, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Etna Lions challenge the Corning Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Etna is facing Corning at the right time seeing as Corning is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
