Basketball Recap: Luke Ellspermann's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Evansville Memorial over Princeton

Evansville Memorial has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Princeton Tigers on Friday. Evansville Memorial was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Princeton apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Ellspermann, who posted 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Ellspermann is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Maxx Anslinger, who went 7 for 10 en route to 17 points.

Evansville Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Princeton, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1.

Evansville Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-46 win against Boonville on the 1st. Princeton has also already played their next game, a 52-38 victory against North Posey on the 1st.
