Softball Recap: Fort Wayne North Side Drops Highest Score of Season Against Fort Wayne Wayne

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Wayne North Side). They came out on top against the Fort Wayne Wayne Generals by a score of 11-6 on Saturday. For the Legends, this counts as revenge for the 10-2 victory the Generals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Cadee Ross made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Ross was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Fort Wayne North Side let Ashlyn Robinson and Ashlyn Maple run wild. Robinson went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Maple went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Maple has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amayah Rankin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Fort Wayne North Side was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Fort Wayne North Side's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Fort Wayne Wayne, they dropped their record down to 1-13 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Fort Wayne North Side and Fort Wayne Wayne will both be playing Hamilton the next time they take the field. The Generals will head out to face the Marines at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Legends will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
