Recap: J.F. Webb Warriors vs. Nansemond River Warriors
The J.F. Webb Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 69-30 defeat at the hands of Nansemond River. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points J.F. Webb has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, J.F. Webb saw an underclassman step up: Daniel Wright scored eight points. Wright is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jabari Hunter, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
J.F. Webb struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
J.F. Webb's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points per game. As for Nansemond River, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
J.F. Webb's road trip will continue as they head out to face Franklin Academy at 9:30 a.m. on December 29, 2023. Nansemond River and Chapel Hill will round out the year against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at. Chapel Hill is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
