Preview: Heritage Hawks vs. St. Mary's Academy
The Heritage Hawks will head out on the road to square off against St. Mary's Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Heritage has five straight victories, St. Mary's Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Heritage put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against Brookstone as Heritage made off with a 60-39 victory. Given Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Brookstone is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Robert bolinger led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Skidmore, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's Academy came up short against Brookstone on Saturday and fell 62-53. St. Mary's Academy has not had much luck with Brookstone recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Heritage's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.92 points. As for St. Mary's Academy, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Everything came up roses for Heritage against St. Mary's Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-34 victory. Does Heritage have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Mary's Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
