Eagle Valley has won six straight games at home, while Battle Mountain has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Devils will host the Husky at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Eagle Valley will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Summit, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Devils never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Saturday.
Anthony Ehlert was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Brody Blank was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Battle Mountain got the win against Steamboat Springs on Saturday by a conclusive 12-3.
Hans Wittenberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Reed, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Battle Mountain is 4-0-1 when Reed posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Harding Matthews, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Eagle Valley's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Battle Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6-1.
