Basketball Recap: Pinnacle Comes Up Short

Pinnacle lost against American Leadership Academy back in January of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Pinnacle Panthers took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the American Leadership Academy Eagles. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Defeat or not, Pinnacle got some senior leadership from Heather Kerr and Jostyn McLean. Kerr dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards, while McLean dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 52.8% of Pinnacle's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaibri Moynier, who put up two points in addition to five boards and three steals.

American Leadership Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacklynn Huff, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Huff is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Chanel Carpenter, who had eight points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Pinnacle fell to 4-1. As for American Leadership Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Pinnacle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-22 loss against Water Canyon on the 6th. As for American Leadership Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 38-26 victory against Rowland Hall on the 5th.
