Softball Recap: Harrison Comes Up Short

After flying high against West Lafayette on Thursday, Harrison came back down to earth. The Raiders fell just short of the Illiana Christian Vikings by a score of 13-11 on Friday. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Becca Knight was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mallory Duell, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Harrison has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Illiana Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Harrison and Illiana Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Raiders will square off against Terre Haute South Vigo at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (86 vs. 209). Meanwhile, Illiana Christian (ranked 91st) will meet Hammond Bishop Noll (ranked 214th) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
