Recap: Mendenhall Tigers vs. Northeast Jones Tigers
The Mendenhall Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Northeast Jones 57-30 on the road. The win was familiar territory for Mendenhall who now have seven in a row.
Mendenhall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jay Rankin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten assists. The contest was Rankin's third in a row with at least ten points. Tayton James was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Mendenhall pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Northeast Jones, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mendenhall will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Quitman at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Northeast Jones will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Laurel at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
