League recap: Santa Margarita extends winning streak with victory over Servite

Santa Margarita extended the longest winning streak in Trinity this week by beating Servite, 21-0. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

Mater Dei took down JSerra Catholic 42-10 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ryan McMahon threw for 144 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

The Monarchs' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Treavon Coley chipped in 106 yards. Mailk McMorris helped Mater Dei's passing attack out by catching one ball for 14 yards.

Thomas Duarte was the best wideout in the league this week as Mater Dei beat the Lions. Duarte tallied five receptions for 125 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Johnny Stanton and Ryan Wolpin Santa Margarita has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Stanton leads the league in passing with 949 yards, while Wolpin has rushed for 728 yards this season. Bruce Rollinson's team's Duarte leads the league in receiving yards with 463 on 25 catches.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Harry Welch's team and the Monarchs. The Eagles enters the game ranked first in the state, while Mater Dei ranks seventh.

Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Santa Margarita and the Monarchs meet this week. The Eagles features well-regarded senior Stanton while Mater Dei has Kyle Penniston, a sought after sophomore.

The Monarchs led Trinity in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on JSerra Catholic. McMahon in the win.
