Softball Game Preview: St. Marys Flying Dutch vs. Lake-Lehman Knights

St. Marys has won 11 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Lake-Lehman has won 11 straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Flying Dutch will welcome the Knights at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Marys is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Redbank Valley on Wednesday.

Avery Eckels made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Hanslovan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsie Fledderman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Lake-Lehman came out on top against Hanover Area on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Knights blew past the Hawkeyes 11-1.

St. Marys' victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Lake-Lehman, their win bumped their record up to 14-1.
