Baseball Recap: Hermitage Comes Up Short

Hermitage extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They lost 7-1 to the Bearden Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-0 back in March.

As for Bearden, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Bearden's part, the team relied heavily on Landon Faucett, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Faucett is becoming a predictor of the Bears' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't). Jackie Flint also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Coming up, Hermitage will welcome Columbia Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hermits' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. As for Bearden, they will head out on the road to square off against Bradley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
