Recap: Ogilvie Lions vs. Upsala Cardinals
The Ogilvie Lions waltzed into their matchup Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They snuck past Upsala with a 63-59 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Upsala's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Isabel Ripplinger, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals, and Hannah Heesen who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. Isabelle Leners was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Upsala were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Ogilvie pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Upsala, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Ogilvie and North Woods will round out the year against one another at TBD on Wednesday at. One thing working in North Woods' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Upsala will be home for the holidays to greet Melrose at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
