Springfield took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 62-53 win over the Sycamore War Eagles. This was payback for the Yellow Jackets, who suffered a 59-54 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Among those leading the charge was Jalen Chapman, who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high. Elijah Barbee was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Sycamore lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hicks Hunter, who put up 18 points and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen McMahan, who earned 11 points.

Sycamore's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Springfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-65 defeat against Gallatin on the 20th. As for Sycamore, they have also already played their next game, a 76-38 loss against White House-Heritage on the 20th.
