The Arlington Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Arlington's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
It was a proper cat-fight when Arlington took on Southwind on Thursday. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Jaguars a 15-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won seven in a row.
Brooklyn Knight made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Arlington got a big performance out of Morgan Cooper, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Cooper has posted since back in March. Emma Chamberlain was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Arlington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Tipton-Rosemark Academy waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 7-2.
Like Arlington, Tipton-Rosemark Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Lanie Howe. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Howe was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Sykes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Addie Thorpe, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.
Tipton-Rosemark Academy pushed their record up to 18-14-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Arlington, their record now sits at 12-10-2.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arlington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Tipton-Rosemark Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Arlington couldn't quite get it done against Tipton-Rosemark Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
