Football Recap: Southern Nash Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Southern Nash played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Clayton Comets and fell 49-14. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Comets are ranked 26th).

When it comes to explaining why Southern Nash lost, don't look at Jaden Hartsfield. Despite the final result, he rushed for 140 yards and one score, and also caught one touchdown.

Clayton had a senior duo take command as Aiden Smalls rushed for 152 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries and Noah Smith rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries.

Southern Nash's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Clayton, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Southern Nash will face off against James Kenan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clayton, they will challenge Hoggard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 822 yards in their previous games.
